Development and implementation of a cost allocation system for facility management based on actual usage for a university hospital

Based on the development results at the Chair of Facility Management (“A process-oriented model for allocating facility management costs using the example of the operations department in a hospital,” Karin Diez, 2009), this project implemented an allocation system for facility management services in hospitals. This is particularly important in the context of the hospital flat-rate remuneration system (DRG system), which also charges facility management services at a flat rate. The project was carried out in 2011-2012.

Motivation

As part of order management, a division of Leipzig University Hospital (AöR) provides services for the Faculty of Medicine (MF). Until the project began, there was no mutually acceptable formula for allocating the resulting personnel costs.

Objective

The objective of the project was to develop and implement a product-oriented accounting system for personnel costs in the relevant area.
