Construction Site Future - the podcast

Renovating instead of expanding is the new motto in residential construction.

Our federal government agrees: from 2050 onwards, no new land should be developed without unsealing land elsewhere. The solution? Building within existing structures. A residential construction project near Frankfurt shows us how this can be done innovatively and efficiently.

Yesterday, we spoke with Hendrik Tovar (FMM Architekten) and Sandra Mey (Zeppelin Lab GmbH) at the construction site about the Hessenring 38 project—a sustainable restructuring of a residential complex from the 1960s for multiple generations.
Hanna Bonekämper was able to contribute the research perspective and present our NaiS project – Sustainable Intelligent Renovation Measures – with a focus on how artificial intelligence can improve the sustainability of renovations.

Thank you for the exciting exchange and the great afternoon!

Presentation of the MAT Awards 2024 on April 26, 2024, in Berlin

FMFM

The MAT Award is presented annually to the most aspiring talents in the real estate industry. Together, they are committed to a dynamic real estate industry that strives for a digital, transparent, and responsible future.

We are delighted that doctoral student Hanna Bonekämper has received one of the 30 awards!

Top 30 under 30 for the real estate industry

“We started out as an association with a specific mission: we want to offer young talents in the real estate industry a platform to network, exchange ideas, develop ideas together, and drive them forward,” reports co-founder Frederik Walbaum. The “MAT Award” is therefore not only aimed at young professionals with impressive résumés; in particular, those who think outside the box with innovative strength, social goals, and social commitment are encouraged to apply. From the submissions, the jury finally selected the top 30 under 30, who were celebrated at the official award ceremony in Berlin.

A think tank for future issues
However, the real work has only just begun. The award winners regularly exchange ideas in the constantly growing network. This creates an interdisciplinary think tank that offers space for ideas, inspiration, and innovation.

TMB graduate receives DGNB Sustainability Award

DGNBDGNB

Marvin Wach, a civil engineering graduate at KIT, received the DGNB Sustainability Award for his master's thesis. The tool he developed assesses the environmental impact of renovation measures on residential buildings as early as the planning phase. It takes into account both operational and gray emissions, thus enabling early optimization of construction methods. The thesis was written under the supervision of Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wi.-Ing. Kunibert Lennerts, Tobias Kropp, M.Sc., and Dr.-Ing. Justus Medgenberg.

Mainzer Kreis awards NAIMMA sustainability prize for the first time

On July 13, 2022, Mainzer Kreis awarded the NAIMMA sustainability prize for the first time in Frankfurt am Main. The aim of the award is to bring more sustainability to the real estate industry. Mainzer Kreis thus supports university graduates who are concerned with sustainability in the real estate industry. The NAIMMA is open to students who have addressed the topic of sustainability in the real estate industry in their master's or diploma thesis. The thesis must have been graded at least 2.0. The jury is made up of Mainzer Kreis participants from the management teams of D.R.E.A.M., FOUR PARX, HT Group, and WISAG, as well as a group of experts under the scientific direction of university professor Dr.-Ing. Kunibert Lennerts from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The NAIMMA is endowed with 7,500 euros.
